Owned by May de Lencquesaing, former owner of Bordeaux Château Pichon-Lalande, Glenelly offers a Bordeaux-inspired structure with fine New World richness.
Winemaking at Glenelly, situated in Idas Valley, Stellenbosch is considered an art form and 2009 saw the inauguration, on this 128ha estate, of a winery which is a stellar example of modern methods, design and environmental awareness.
The Reserve Chardonnay displays a wonderful bright crisp colour. On the nose, vibrant lemon and lime zest, with hints of apple, pear drop, lychee and rose which overlays its minerality. The palate is lush, the creamy texture is underpinned with beautiful mineral notes and hints of toasted almond and vanilla gained from its ten months in new and second-fill barrels. The finish is fresh with great minerality and has a nervous energy about it.
